How to Apply

Materials required for application:

  • Completed SIOM application
  • A recent passport-sized photograph
  • Official transcripts of prior education sent directly to SIOM from the originating institution. Transcripts from other countries must be translated into English and evaluated by a credential-evaluation service. We suggest World Education Service (
  • Essay describing reasons for choosing this field and the Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine
  • A brief explanation of how you plan to finance your education and living expenses
  • $100 application fee (non-refundable).

Before you apply, we encourage you to visit the school, take a tour, sit in on classes, and get a treatment in the teaching clinic in order to become more familiar with our programs.  Also please read the admissions information provided on this site as well as in our catalog (download link in left menu bar).  If you have questions not addressed in either of those places, contact us at for more information.

M.Ac.O.M. and M.Ac. Program Rolling Admissions

SIOM is currently accepting applications for Fall 2015 admission into the M.Ac.O.M. and M.Ac. programs.  Applicants with plans to complete some prerequisites prior to fall entry will be considered on a contingency basis.  Applicants will be notified of their admissions status within two weeks after their interview. Applicants who are accepted will have two weeks to make a decision and send in their enrollment agreement and a nonrefundable $500 deposit to reserve a their place in the entering class.  This deposit will be applied to the first trimester's tuition.


Interview spots are available as space allows.  To be considered for a particular date you must have a complete application turned in at least two weeks before the interview date.  Applying early is recommended.  Please check here for upcoming interview dates.

Decisions regarding acceptance are made within two weeks after the interview. Applicants are accepted until the class is full. Candidates for admission must demonstrate maturity, academic ability and sincerity to enter the field of Oriental medicine.
